A new contract for locken in the water industry
Locken has been awarded the contract to equip 300 sites, including 20 classified as "critical infrastructure sites" (SIV - Sites d'Importance Vitale) in a region of more than 30 urban and rural communities. This new customer is an independent water authority in southern France.

The three-year contract covers the deployment of security measures for all the sites operated by the water authority, with a first wave of installations over 15 sites beginning in summer 2011. Locken will install a total of 1,000 cylinders, 150 electronic keys and 7 Locken infrared authorizers (DARIR).

The customer required a replacement of its old, and then become obsolete, mechanical key system by a simple, remotely-operated solution. The security system must also use an in-key power supply, be certified by CNPP (French Testing laboratory equivalent to BRE) and – crucially – incorporate an anti-pick system.

Following an initial series of tests, the water authority was able to see the potential benefits of the installation, and particularly the discontinuation of mechanical keys, the introduction of traceability and identification for staff with access to its facilities (the Locken system complies fully with SAIV standards), the monitoring of sub-contractors and the management of lost keys.
